Harlow
Hartman Design Group was honored to design the amenity interiors of the Harlow, and even before developers Urban Atlantic and Brookfield Properties cut the ribbon on their 179-unit “Harlow” affordable-housing apartment building near Nationals Park, it was 95% leased.
Harlow has a total of 179 apartments, of which 36 are public housing units. Amenities in the new construction structure include seating areas, a club lounge complete with a communal kitchen, foosball and shuffleboard tables, and more.

Key Insights
To make way for the new construction, old buildings were demolished. The developers worked with the D.C. Housing Authority to include public housing units, replacing those lost through the demolition. Funded in part through D.C. Housing Production Trust Fund financing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, the apartments offer great amenities to its affordable and market-rate residents even as it serves as an example of what a local public-private partnership can do.
