Harvard Court

Located at 1425 Harvard Street NW in Washington, D.C., Harvard Court Apartments will provide an affordable housing community in Ward1, home to the culturally rich neighborhoods of Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, and Adams Morgan. This project is a public-private partnership between NHP and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development. The seven-story building features contemporary architecture that seamlessly blends with its surrounding brick rowhouses built in the early 1900’s.

Harvard Court includes 108 thoughtfully designed apartments, with 22 deeply affordable units designated for permanent supportive housing. The building spans 110,000 square feet, complemented by approximately 8,000 square feet of ground-level amenity space that offers residents convenience and fosters a sense of community. Additionally, a 41,000-square-foot parking garage extends across both ground and underground levels, enhancing accessibility.

The interior design adopts a casual-contemporary style, focusing on connections to the tree-lined streetscape and a private courtyard. The amenity spaces reflect the neighborhood's essence and history through custom graphics, featuring a timeless neutral palette accented with bold green.

The design team faced the challenge of creating a highly functional layout that meets management and maintenance requirements while fostering an inviting and intimate atmosphere that reflects the unique vibe of the neighborhood.

At HDG, we believe affordable housing should provide more than just a place to live. Through design excellence, we aim to create engaging, healthy, energy-efficient, beautiful, low-maintenance, budget friendly environments, that invest in the future of our cities and suburbs. Collaborative solutions arise when caring professionals work together for the common good.
